The Divinity

Lumina, the Divine Maker

The omnipotent God of Life that the Empire worships. Lumina is commonly addressed as “The Maker,” or “The Allmother.” It is said that Lumina created all life and that she is the ancestor of the royal demigods. Lumina is often depicted as a veiled woman, but it is said that she can appear before her worshippers as a child, a woman, or a crone. Otherwise, it is said that she can also take the form of a six-winged dragon and that her descendants may temporarily take such a form as well.

Caligo, the Divine Diabolus

The Maker’s counterpart, and widely condemned as “Foul Caligo.” Caligo is said to be jealous of everything the Maker has created and offered to her worshippers. Scriptures commonly warn of Caligos attempts to foil each individual’s attempts at salvation in the afterlife and the Maker’s grand schemes. Unsurprisingly, Caligo is often blamed for the Cataclysm, especially since no cause for the Cataclysm exists — at least, not one backed by science and logic. Caligo is often depicted as a beautiful man with butterfly motifs, although his true form is deemed too terrible to describe.

The Three Saints

Saint Celestine the Founder, Saint Haim the Scholar, and Saint Pandora the Guardian are all credited with the foundation of what would become the present-day Holy Empire of Daul-Emallám. Saint Celestine is known as the Maker’s son, while the other two are his closest followers who were bestowed similar demigodly strength. Saint Celestine went on to become the first Emallan ruler while Saint Pandora went on to become the first pope until their respective deaths. Saint Haim is said to have disappeared from the public eye to pursue otherworldly wisdom.
