Aislinn Rosach — The Wildcard

A young woman with extraordinary powers of dubious origin and the main protagonist of Thou Shalt Defy Death. She was adopted and trained by Sol Rosach after being orphaned in an imperial raid on her village. She has an unshakeable sense of justice, but her impulsiveness, stubbornness and social awkwardness can alienate her from her comrades.
Arien — The Second Prince
Born Arien-Alshain of the royal House Vos-Mhahára and the second child of Saint Lyra. Although primogeniture guaranteed his sister’s place on the throne, there are some who would regard the Second Prince as the more capable twin. However, Arien does not appear inclined to depose his sister out of both familial affection and the notable lack of such ambition — particularly if despite the Divine Grace, it turns out he is on borrowed time himself.
Altaire — First of Her Name
Born Lucienne-Altaire of the royal House Vos-Mhahára and the first child of Saint Lyra, Altaire is the heritor of the powers and responsibilities of the Divine Grace. Although Altaire’s existence is a promise of prosperity, peace, and power following unprecedented tragedy, her history of deep trauma and instability is of great concern to the court’s upper circles. Her father, Archduke Valérian of House Dupré is the de facto ruler in her stead.
